Reflection on VALS Survey for Comm 203

Taking the survey from VALS was actually quite funny.  Funny in the sense of how accurate it was with pinpointing me as a person and how I operate.  My primary VALS type is an Experiencer and my secondary type is an Achiever.  With being an experiencer, I am motivated by self-expression and into fashion, which is very much so true.  I am a faithful consumer of all things fashion and into the latest trends.  That is how I have always been and how my parents have allowed me to be.  When it listed the favorite things an experiencer likes, which was, social-media follower, being entertained, being established, and the ability to purchase, all favorite things fit me perfectly.
As far as being an achiever, I believe that is pretty accurate.  I do strive for perfection, however, over the years I have learned that nothing is, nor ever will be, perfect.  When it listed out the favorite things, I would have to disagree with recognition and rewards being my number one favorite.  Sure it is nice to be recognized and rewarded, however I believe that can feed into ones ego and make them a little self-centered when rewarded to often.  I do strive for peer-group acceptance because I am a local public figure in the Miss America Organization, but at the end of the day, I am who I am and that's all that matters.  When it listed that I follow the rules to achieve success, that is absolutely true.  I do not believe in double crossing people, especially people who have helped get you where you are today.
When going through the survey, I do have to say that I am one who is not into industrial things and getting my hands dirty in mechanics.  I like to leave that to the professionals.  Throughout the survey, I did, in fact, realize how artistic I am in the sense of being an experiencer.  Fashion is something that leans more towards someone with an eye for art and creativity.  I like to go through the motions, yet have some structure in my life being an achiever, but not so much in the fact of being a mechanic that works with routines and instructions.  Which then leads me to the reason as to why this information may be used to appeal to me as a consumer.
Being an experiencer, you are already labeled as a consumer, a consumer of fashion, art, and adventure.  This also leads to being a consumer of media.  Even as an achiever, I am a consumer of the news and new information going on in the world.  However, I can see where this information can appeal to me even more as a consumer, because ironically, I want to consume more into both fashion and the news.  It is eye opening to have specific titles to identify who I am as a consumer.  I really enjoyed this survey and thought it was pretty spot on with identifying me as the type of person I am today.
